Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the real Avatar!

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, what we called Avatar mountains is one of those places that has been on my mind ever since I came to China. Finally this year we managed to explore this area.

At first, I had never related that this place had appeared in a movie and that its mountains had been an inspiration to create another world.

We visited this place in June 2020, it was not a big issue travelling since the pandemic situation was already more stable in China. Anyways we wanted to feel safe and we made the COVID-19 nucleic acid test.
This test made our life easier when visiting all the attractions and especially at the airport.

Zhangjiajie, as you can see in the photos, is a magical place and sometimes difficult to believe.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located 32km from the urban area.
On our first day we arrived at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, after many questions and forms to fill out we were able to reach our hotel.

Respecting the accommodation, we decided to stay at No.5 Valley Inn, located very close to one of the entrances to the national park.
The hotel is very rustic and connects with the atmosphere of this place.

There are different entrances to the park, we enter through the Yangjiajie gate.
Everything worked perfectly, at the entrance we had to sign another form, show our COVID-19 test and the health code of Hunan province.
Once inside, everything worked normally.

The ticket price was 225rmb per person.
In addition to the cable car that cost us 130rmb round trip.
Upon entering you have to catch a free bus that takes you to the entrance of the cable car.
Leaving the cable car we had to walk a bit and get another bus that would take us to the main area.
Something very important is to research the weather before going, it might be the rainy season and it will probably rain throughout your stay.

During all those days we had rain and mist, but in my personal opinion, I would not change that atmosphere at all.
Zhangjiajie is magical and mysterious, especially when there is fog and you can see the movement of the clouds around the mountains.

I think you can judge for yourself in the photos and don’t forget to leave a comment!
